On September 24th, Haig tenants (AKA the ‘Merton Militia’) will head off to Gibraltar as part of the Veterans Banger Rally raising money for Veterans charities

Joining 40 other teams, the rally covers 1500 miles through France, across the Pyranees to Gibraltar in a car costing less than £999.
It’s a trip that will surely throw up a few difficulties, test friendships and build a bond while raising money for these Veterans charities:
- CDARS – A drug and alcohol rehabilitation service based in Wimbledon which also supports local and London based Veterans and fosters a local veterans support network
- BLESMA – National Charity supporting veterans and their families/widows affected by the loss of a limb either in service or post service through wide ranging and varied activities and peer support
- SSAFA – The Armed Forces charity supports veterans in many diverse and varied ways including (but not exclusively) Emotional/Financial/Peer and activity through its experienced volunteers bringing a wealth of ‘Service life’ experience
- We Remember Submariners – A charity set up to help the families and relatives of Submariners who have been lost – Set up and ran by Ex Submariners bringing expert knowledge and understanding of the life of a Submariner and their families
